چکیده

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and thermoplastics nylon are extensively composed as an alternative material for removable denture base. The primary difference between the two materials is associated with water absorption properties. interact saliva microorganisms during application in oral cavity. Title: The Influence of Tobacco Components on Candida albicans Biofilm Formation on Denture Materials

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of nicotine and cotinine, two major components of tobacco, on fungal biofilm formation on two acrylic resins. Additionally, the nystatin susceptibility of the planktonic and biofilm fungal cells was compared. Materials and Method: Ivocap and Lucitone 199 polished and roughened acrylic resin discs were fabricated and randomly assign...

Candida albicans Denture Biofilm and its Clinical Significance.

Fungi belonging to Candida genus, especially C. albicans play an important role in microflora of oral cavity. Microbial colonisation process taking place within oral cavity is inseparably related to formation of multispecies biofilm, i.e. dental and denture plaque. A mature fungal biofilm is a heterogeneous three-dimensional dense conglomeration of mixture of different morphological forms: blas...

Evaluation of Candida albicans adhesion and biofilm formation on a denture base acrylic resin containing silver nanoparticles.

AIM This study firstly evaluated the activity of a silver nanoparticle (AgNPs) solution against Candida albicans and then the effect of incorporation of AgNPs into a denture base acrylic resin on the material's hydrophobicity, C. albicans adhesion and biofilm formation. METHODS AND RESULTS The AgNPs solution was synthesized by chemical reduction and characterized. Minimum inhibitory (MIC) and...
